Christ's Mindset of Humility - Philippians 2:1-11
Stand Alone Sermon | Philippians 2:1-11
“Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus, who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men. And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross.”
This week we heard a stand-alone sermon on true humility in Philippians 2:1-11. In the passage, we see what true humility is, who Jesus is and how He shows us what true humility is and what true humility looks like.
True humility is generously gracious, authentically honest, purposefully loving, and selflessly others interested. True humility is an attitude and life fixated on God and others' best interests. We see this humility in Jesus' life as He emptied himself, took on our form, and became obedient unto death.
What does true humility lead to? We see that true humility in Christ's life leads to vindicated approval, triumphal power, universal honor, and the glory of the Father. In our life, true humility leads to approval, praise, power, honor, and glory. In Christ's life, we are accepted by the Father, given power over sin and death, and are able to praise, honor, and glorify God in this life and the life to come.
