Are you coming to the University of Michigan?

An Invitation to University of Michigan Students

We want to invite you to join us at Treasuring Christ Church.

Watch this one-minute video to hear our heart and vision for TCC and the University of Michigan.

Treasuring Christ Church is a new church in Ann Arbor, MI. We believe the most pressing question for the people of our city is, “What do you do with Jesus?”  Do you tolerate him as a wise teacher or dismiss him as foolish cynic? Or do you treasure him as Lord and Savior? If Jesus is our greatest treasure—the one whom we love most and in whom we find our satisfaction—then we will give our lives to him and his mission. This is what drives us at Treasuring Christ. We want to see Jesus Christ treasured and His church established.

At Treasuring Christ Church, we desire to multiply disciples who delight in, declare, and display the gospel in all of life and for the good of Ann Arbor. To be for the good of our city, we must also be for the good of the university located at its center—the University of Michigan. We are seeking to be a diverse church that spans all generations while strategically reaching the next generation. We are asking God to raise up students like you to join us in establishing Treasuring Christ Church.

You and your classmates at Michigan are the next generation. You are the doctors, lawyers, nurses, CEOs, engineers, teachers, artists, musicians, athletes, and entrepreneurs who will go on to influence families, communities, and the world. We want to come alongside you in encouraging you to love Jesus above everything else. We want to love you as a part of God’s family and together live on mission. We believe God is calling you to make a difference on the campus for His kingdom. We want to help you do it!

You may be thinking, “How in the world can I make a difference on my campus for God's kingdom? I am stressed about how I am going to make it through this semester!” We get it. You experience so much pressure in college—expectations from your parents, professors, and probably even yourself. We don’t want to diminish or dismiss the significance of these years in your life. We want to reorient college for you around God’s glory and his mission.

We believe college matters. You didn’t come to Michigan merely for a degree. Sure, you came to have fun and make lifelong friends, but you also came seeking to develop your knowledge and skills while desiring to be used for something greater. Along this journey, we want to meet you right where you are, addressing the pressing questions and issues you face with the hope of the gospel.

  • Is there truth? If so, what is it and how do I find it?

  • How do I deal with the shame of never being good enough?

  • What is my purpose in this world?

At Treasuring Christ Church, you can expect to to share meals together, build genuine friendships, and work out the answers to these questions and more in light of what the Bible teaches. There we find the good news of Jesus Christ that frees us from the shame of never measuring up. He informs our search for the truth. His mission drives what we do and where we do it.

Starting in September of 2018, our Launch Team will begin gathering to pray and prepare to officially launch Treasuring Christ Church in the Spring of 2019. As we pray, share meals, and study God’s Word, we will be laying the foundation of Treasuring Christ Church. We would like to invite you to join us.

Our Launch Team will play a pivotal role in helping to build relationships on campus and in the community, to share the gospel, and to prepare for our Sunday morning gatherings and small groups. These meetings will focus on who we are, what we believe, and what we do. Our Launch Team will be made up of people from different cultural backgrounds and walks of life—young couples, singles, empty nesters, grandparents, and college students.

At Treasuring Christ Church, we want to be a church committed to Jesus and His ways. Our Launch Team is nothing novel. We are not putting our hope in strategies or events. Our hope is in Jesus capturing the hearts and lives of a few that He might use us to accomplish His mission in Ann Arbor and the world.

“If we were left to ourselves with the task of taking the gospel to the world, we would immediately begin planning innovative strategies and plotting elaborate schemes. We would organize conventions, develop programs, and create foundations… But Jesus is so different from us. With the task of taking the gospel to the world, he wandered through the streets and byways…All He wanted was a few men who would think as He did, love as He did, see as He did, teach as He did and serve as He did. All He needed was to revolutionize the hearts of a few, and they would impact the world.” - David Platt

It is to this end that we are asking you to join us at Treasuring Christ Church. Perhaps God will use us in Ann Arbor to impact the world. Will you join us?
