Day 12: God is Wise

Day 12: God is Wise

"Blessed be the name of God forever and ever, to whom belong wisdom and might. He changes times and seasons; he removes kings and sets up kings; he gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to those who have understanding; he reveals deep and hidden things; he knows what is in the darkness, and the light dwells with him." - Daniel 2:20-22

God knows all things, sees all things and determines all things. In God are the depths of all knowledge and wisdom. Throughout the Bible, we see God's people proclaiming and praising God for His infinite wisdom. Here in the book of Daniel, we see Daniel's expression of praise to God. He describes God's wisdom as being able to change times and seasons, remove and set up kings, reveal the mysteries that are deep and hidden, and he knows all that lies in the darkness and the light dwells with him. Or in Romans when we see Paul's exclamation after writing about God's plan of salvation for His people"Oh the depth of the riches and wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are his judgments and how inscrutable his ways!" (Romans 11:33) We can never fully know the richness and depth of God's wisdom. But isn't that what makes God God?

God's wisdom isn't just that he knows all things (though he does), but his wisdom is what allows Him to always do what is right with the infinite knowledge that he has. We may have all the knowledge or facts on a specific circumstance, but that doesn't mean we will use that knowledge to do what is right. God's wisdom is what allows him to wield his infinite knowledge to always and forever do what is right.

Because God in His infinite wisdom always does what is right; he is fully trustworthy. He is worthy of all of our trust and our very lives. We may not understand all that the Lord does in our circumstances, but because we know that He is infinitely wise, he will always do what is right. He calls us to trust Him. Would you take a moment to ponder what it means for God to be infinitely wise, always right, and fully knowledgable?

Prayer

Father, I thank you that in you are the depths of all knowledge and wisdom. I thank you that I don't have to fully understand or know all that you do in order to trust you. I thank you that you are wise, always do what is right, and are worthy of my trust. Would you help me today to ponder what it means that you are wise? Would you help me to put my trust in you even when I don't understand?
