14 Days of Prayer - Day 2: God is Eternal

Day 2: God is Eternal

"I am the Alpha and the Omega," says the Lord God, "who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty." — Revelation 1:8

God is, has been, and will always be. The Psalmist says, "from everlasting to everlasting you are God." (Ps. 90:12) He is above and apart from time, yet "in the fullness of time," He sent His Son to redeem us and adopt us into His family. (Gal.4:4-6). He is sovereign over time, including the time of our lives. He knows the beginning and end of our days.

Acts 17:24-25 says, "The God who made the world and everything in it, being Lord of heaven and earth, does not live in temples made by man, nor is he served by human hands, as though he needed anything, since he himself gives to all mankind life and breath and everything." This eternal God invites us, his finite creation, to have eternal life in Him. "ForGod so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.(John 3:16) Our life is in His hands and, in Christ, He secures eternal life for all who believe in Him.

Prayer

Father God, we praise you as the King of the ages, immortal, invisible, the only God. May you receive all honor and glory forever and ever. As far back as we can look, you were there. As far ahead as we can imagine, you will be there. Wherever we find ourselves right now, you are here. Help me rest in you when I am burdened by my past, struggling in the present, or anxious about my future. Thank you that you've promised me the joy of being with you for eternity since I have set my hope on you.
